đď¸ Microsolidarity Network October Update
Of scales and hermit crabs
Last week I (Jocelyn) asked workshop participants what group size they felt most at ease in - alone, one-on-one, crew-sized, or in a crowd?
Most gravitate towards smaller groups where thereâs more room to be seen and heard. But some find one-on-ones overwhelming - the intensity of being closely witnessed, the pressure of creating the right vibe from scratch. For them, a well-held larger group with welcome and connection already embedded brings out their best. They can come and go at their leisure and engage in ways that meet their needs.
Many of us long for more of these well-hosted spaces - at work, in our studies, social gatherings, even architectured into our neighbourhoods and cities.
How to create spaces that bring out the best in each other is at the heart of Microsolidarity.
Gui and I hope youâll enjoy some of the events and opportunities in this monthâs newsletter as we continue exploring this together as a network!

đŚ Card Deck Highlight: Hermit Crabbing
When weâre practicing Microsolidarity, weâre focusing not just on what weâre doing together, but also how weâre supporting each otherâs growth and development along the way. One way we like to do that is by âhermit crabbingâ - once weâve outgrown a role or mastered a skill, we pass it on to someone whoâs ready to step into it, just like hermit crabs pass on their shells. Itâs become one of our favourite Microsolidarity memes and has definitely earned its place in the new âBelonging on Purposeâ card deck.
When you look back on the last few months or year, which âshellâ have you outgrown?
Who could you pass it on to?
What new shell would you like to inhabit?
Who could support you?
Share your hermit crabbing reflections in the commentsâweâd love to hear what shells youâre passing on or growing into!

Upcoming Events
đ¤ November Network Call - 6th November - 18:30 - 20:00 CET / 9:30 - 11:00 PDT
Join Michael Tong and Agi Dubi for this monthâs network call! Theyâll be hosting a relational practice, similar to Circling, which theyâve been developing since last Summer Camp. You can expect this to be an insightful opportunity to drop in deeply with fellow network members. In Michael and Agiâs words: âthrough interpersonal meditation practices like shared noting we authentically connect with each other in the field of presence. We grow our superorganism together by beginning the practice of noting in ourselves and build up in small groups, eventually to a collective wholeâ
When? 6th Nov, 18:30 - 20:00 CET / 9:30 - 11:00 PDT (one hour earlier than usual!)
Simply register on Open Collective for âŹ3/month and youâll receive a calendar invite with the Zoom link for these calls.
đ Seeking project presenters!
Do you have a Microsolidarity inspired project that youâd like to share with the network? Present it at one of the upcoming Network Calls!
This is a great opportunity to get some input and feedback from a network of fellow practitioners, and weâll all benefit from hearing about your experimentation and insights.
You might present an event, educational project, crewing experiment, social impact initiative, a book youâve written, a toolkit you developed...

đş October Network Call replay: Navigating Conflict
In the most recent network call we had an inspiring conversation about addressing conflict. What does conflict transformation look like through a Microsolidarity lens? How do you turn conflict into a generative experience?
We recommend listening in as weâre sure itâll spark some new perspectives and ideas for you and your group/relationships - especially as we get to the wrap up at the end :)
You can listen to it as a podcast or watch the full recording here!
