Microsolidarity network October update 🍂
Harvesting from the Europe Summer Camp and announcements!
Hi from autumnal Berlin,
This edition is is all about insights and reflections from the Microsolidarity Europe Summer Camp. More than 50 of us gathered at Kunst in der Natur, a historical farm with a camp ground and a 10km long nature art trail in the Austrian forest on August 29th - September 4.

We just had a top notch monthly Network Call to reflect on what we learnt, and how this is evolving our practice and understanding of Microsolidarity and the Network. Highly recommended to tune in!
👉 Check the session recording in video, podcast and AI summary Organised as a “fishbowl” , it asked juicy questions such as is belonging created by structures or by a filter of self-selection (and what’s the filter)? How to approach designing gathering structures for emergence and creativity? How to surface tension and design for multiplicity without polarisation?
🐠 It’s best to listen or watch the recording itself to hear “fish trying to describe water” firsthand. Conversation gets really interesting 45 mins in (and there is 10 mins of silence before this as groups generate questions).
Come to the next community call, suggested a topic and step up to co-host! (info below)
👉 Here is a retro from camp hosts as a podcast and a separate deep-dive with camp organising crew, exploring the take-aways and considerations for the design processes and hosting of future gatherings. Which structures and practices enabled or inhibited our collective ways of being, and how? In video and as podcast.
👉 Sara Bajor has published an interview with Pietro, telling a story from EU Summer Camp about personal development, exercising one's agency, and using the magic of transforming needs into invitations ✨. Available on YouTube and anywhere you listen to podcasts. Do make sure you subscribe to Microsolidarity YouTube and Spotify to get the new updates.
👉 Sarah Pelham, one of the EU Summer Camp co-hosts, has written a Substack blog on her lessons learnt from organising and hosting this gathering - the venue, creating the shared container, highlighting high context people and embracing opportunities for growth and mediation skills related to that.
👉 Thoughts from the Philosophy Department - a new podcast in which Julian asked Rich to talk about some of the aspects of the Microsolidarity vision that are most commonly misunderstood. It’s an intellectually stimulating, occasionally controversial and wide-ranging conversation about some of the deeper philosophy behind the framework. It was recorded during the camp and you can hear the hum of the group spirit in the background.
Next community call 💬

Join the newsletter crew 💭
This newsletter is a collaborative effort, a space for you to share with the wider community, and also a way to strengthen the R&D muscle of the network in its exploration of the structures for belonging.
This is an invitation to join the newsletter crew and take it further with respect to community weaving and reflection building. If you feel like this might be of interest to you, get in touch with me on julia.karmo@gmail.com and we’ll organise an initial call for all interested to explore together.
I also want to share a link to our super-simple content collection form to all of Microsolidarity community. Please follow a short instruction on top.
Invitation to co-host an event 💕
This is an invitation from Synes to co-organize an artistic and sex-positive gathering in 2025. Sparxcamp event brings together 40-80 participants over 10 days to collaborate on filming intimate short films, using a creative, decentralized approach to organizing. We aim to involve all participants in a collaborative process using Microsolidarity principles, focusing on autonomy and participatory practices. I am looking for two committed co-organizers to help create an inclusive, artistic, and caring environment. For more information about the previous edition and the onboarding process for producers go here.
Until next time! 🔥
