Hi all,
Welcome to the second edition of the renewed Microsolidarity newsletter. This one is lighter on reflections, but heavier on summer plans which is how it should be!
If you want the Summer Camp to happen and also experience what it’s like to host a large event based on Microsolidarity principles, here is your chance.
Summer plans 😎
Planning meeting for the EU & US Microsolidarity Summer Camps is this coming Monday, March 25 at 11:30-13:00 PDT/ 19:30-21:00 CET. If you’re curious to hear and discuss emerging ideas, might want to take on a role, or have wisdom to share from previous camps and event planning please join the planning call. Message Sarah (hello@sarahpelham.co.uk) to receive the meeting invite.
There are also plans to set up a Microsolidarity camp at two summer festivals this year:
The Borderland in Sweden, 22-28 July. If you have your Borderland ticket you an apply to join the camp here.
Nowhere in Spain, 2-7 July: if you’re interested, get in touch with Mirjam on Telegram.
And there is also a private invitation from Marin Petrov: he has a space for two to join a mini-retreat at his house in Bulgaria, near Sofia, on 22 - 26th of April. The idea is to plant the garden together. Get in touch with Marin on Telegram.
Microsolidarity Connection Call
The connection call is always on the first Thursday of the month, so it’ll be April 4 this time at 18:30-20:00 CET. If you’d like to co-host a session, get in touch with Jocelyn at microsolidarity@gmail.com.
To join the call, you need to be a Microsolidarity Network Member by contributing a minimum of €3/month via our Open Collective. Members will receive a link to the call via email and on a Google Calendar event invitation.
Call out for your content on the subject of Crewing
We want to expand our pool of contributors and give them some focus, so I’d like to announce a THEME for which we actively want to solicit contributions in the form of blogs, reflections and conversations. The next theme is Crewing. What is Crewing? It is the third step in community-growing and is often the first radical step people take once they’ve been on a Microsolidarity course or gathering. It is often a paradigm shifter in some way, at least it was for me as in “Hey, I can make communities myself instead of waiting to be invited and it’s actually fairly easy and is a total life up-leveller.” More on this here and here.
So the invitation is to write a reflection on what Crewing has been like for YOU! There are two ways to do this.
1/ We’d like you to use this prompt to share your reflections on our own channels as your immediate community is surely to gain from this. Then you can share the link in the Newsletter Content Sheet.
2/ If you don’t have a publishing platform but have a reflection, please send it to Julia Karmo on julia.karmo@gmail.com with the subject line “Newsletter Crewing” and we’ll find a way to publish it on MiSo channels.
Also please save a this permanent link to this Newsletter Content Sheet as a place where you can drop any info you want to be featured in the upcoming newsletter - events, courses and reflections of any kind.
Deadline - April 15! 📝 📷🎙️
This month’s shares
Jonas shares his thoughts on different kinds of bridge builders and the roles they play in shifting out of the domination paradigm. Here is the problem: "In a complex system it’s so easy to produce unintended 2nd or 3rd order consequences. If our experts are not sufficiently embedded in the wider ecosystem of change they might not even realize, that they are making the lives of others working on a different issue from a similar set of values extremely difficult." There is an Open Call to Changemakers to share their story at the bottom of the post.
“Three of my close friends and I have just moved into a flat together for 6 months in Berlin. it’s a practice lab for co-living in a crew-sized group. How do we want to be together?” Read Jocelyn’s blog on the insights that she’s bringing into her new co-living experience.
